Dobson finished as runner-up in the girls invitational with a PR of 17:40 — a new South Carolina record on the Eye Opener course, the top time in the state this season (according to scrunners.com) and the 30th fastest in the nation according to the MileSplit Network.

Dobson led the Knights’ varsity to an 11th-place finish out of 18 teams.

Sophomore Isabella Adams finished 66th out of 429 runners and led the Knights’ JV to a 16th-place finish out of 35 teams.

The SJCS varsity boys finished 17th out of 33 teams. Senior Brendan McTigue came in 29th (17:04), junior Tristan McTigue 57th (17:29) and junior Dylan McTigue 61st (17:33).

Swimming

The SJCS boys swim team defeated Christ Church by 28 points and the girls lost to defending Class 3A champion Christ Church by the same margin Monday at Greenville Country Club. Eastside, the reigning Class 4A boys and girls state champions, swept the meet against Christ Church and St. Joe’s.

“On another hot afternoon, our Knights showed up and swam fast,” Knights coach Becky VanEvera said. “This was a very fast meet with great competition.”

For the Knights, junior Preston Jennings won 100 and 400 free, junior Silas Crosby won the 200 IM and the 100 breast and sophomore Mary Kate Farrell won the 200 free.

Jennings, Crosby, senior James Cline and freshman Colin Jordan teamed to win both the 200 and 400 free relays.
