SJCS BOYS SWIM TEAM TAKES 3RD, GIRLS 7TH IN ROCK HILL

The St. Joseph’s boys swim team took third out of 20 teams (15 of which were 3A or larger) and the girls took seventh in Saturday’s Upstate Invitational at the Rock Hill Aquatic Center.

Among the top individual finishes for the boys were Preston Jennings taking third in both the 50 and 100 freestyle; Jack Doyle, who had a long recovery this summer from a shoulder injury, placing second in the 100 breaststroke; and Collin Jordan taking third in the 500 free.

James Cline, Jack Doyle, Preston Jennings and Collin Jordan teamed to take second in the 200 medley relay and third in the 200 free relay.

For the girls, Sylvia Walker, Kelsey Fitzgerald, Elizabeth Loudermilk and Alice Norton placed seventh seventh in the 200 medley relay and Bryn Bissinger, Helen Norton, Alice Norton and Elizabeth Loudermilk placed eighth in the 200 free relay.

Newcomer Sylvia Walker also helped her team out with a point-scoring finish in the 100 free and Elizabeth Loudermilk placed fifth in the 200 free.

The team achieved some new state consideration times and cuts. Also of note, long-time team members Lucy Abromovitz and Camille Ferguson achieved their state consideration times for the first time.

Next up is a home meet against Brashier Middle College and Greenville Tech at Spaulding Farms Tuesday, Sept. 10 at 5:30 p.m.
