SPORTS ROUNDUP: VOLLEYBALL TEAM TAKES 9TH IN TENNESSEE

The SJCS varsity volleyball team took ninth overall out of 50 teams and finished as the Silver Bracket runner-up in the Showdown at the Sunsphere tournament this past weekend in Knoxville, Tenn.

The Knights will open Region 1-2A play tonight at home against Brashier Middle College at 6:45 PM. The JV plays at 4:30 PM.

Swimming

Saturday was a big day for the St. Joseph’s swim team, which added 15 state cuts and 20 consideration times to its growing list during the Splashdown Invitational at the Greenville County Aquatic Complex.

The Knights also had two individual first-place finishers: Silas Crosby in the 200 free and Colin Jordan in the 100 free.

Next up for the SJCS swimmers is the Upstate Invitational at the Rock Hill Aquatic Center on Saturday, Sept. 7.

Girls Golf

Led by co-captain Caleigh Noonan, the St. Joseph’s girls golf team beat Wren 161-169 Monday at Southern Oaks in Easley.

Caleigh shot a 1-over 37 for the Knights (5-1). Emma Curran posted a 39, while Reagan Lillibridge had a 40 and Kaitlyn Dumit carded a 45. Also for the Knights, Marett Cole shot 50 and Meghan Noonan 69.

SJCS next plays Wednesday at GCC Chanticleer against Wren and Blue Ridge.
