The weather cooperated, and the first annual St. Joseph’s Catholic School Athletic Department Golf Tournament was a huge success Friday, August 2 at The Preserve at Verdae.

A field of 132 golfers and numerous other sponsors participated to help raise necessary funds for the SJCS athletic department, which has been among the premier programs in the state.

The overall championship (and the Gold Flight title) was won by the team of Pat Duncan, Stuart Garth, Tom Baliker and Sean Miller, which had a team gross score of 51 (net of 49.8).

The low net winner with a score of 49.7 (gross of 51) was the team of Blake Moore, Todd Achberger, Jeff Hilderbran and Doug Walker.

Low net in the Silver Flight with 51.9 (gross of 55) was the team of Marty Winsch, Chris Garrison, Richard Morris and Chris Morris.

The Bronze Flight championship team with a net of 58.8 (gross of 63) was comprised of Carter Hollis, Ronnie Colson, Mark Chapman and Staton Horne.

The longest drive for the ladies on No. 18 was recorded by Emma Curran, and for the men it was achieved by Henry Hall. Closest to the pin on No. 6 was Todd Achberger, and at No. 15 it was Marty Winsch.

A special thanks to all those who participated and sponsored and made it a great day for the St. Joe’s family, and especially to tournament organizers Jill Murphy and Tami Patrick, social event organizers Mary Salgado and Blair Bailey (photos to come on the social) and the SJCS Booster Club, led by President Michael Pace.

Thanks to all for supporting our Knights!
