SJCS SIXTH-GRADER CLAIMS GRAND PRIZE IN ESSAY CONTEST
Congratulations to St. Joseph’s Sixth Grade Academy student Mary Branch Cotner, who was selected as the grand prize winner in the Greenville County Soil and Water Conservation District’s 76th Annual Conservation Essay Contest.
Mary Branch’s composition on the 2019 theme, “Life in the Soil, Dig Deeper,” was selected as the Greenville Zoo Conservation Award winning essay. In conjunction with the Greenville Zoo, she will be presented with a certificate and an annual family membership to the zoo.
SJCS Sixth Grade Academy students swept the top four awards. Peyton Jenkins (1st), Austin Dodge (2nd) and Allison Kim (3rd) took the top three places, and Mary Branch was the overall winner. All four will be honored at the the Greenville County Soil and Water Conservation District’s annual awards gala banquet Thursday, May 16 at 6 p.m. at The Commerce Club.
