Boys Swimming Defeats 5A Opponents

Boys Swimming landed a huge victory Thursday at Middle Tyger YMCA defeating not one, but TWO 5A schools in the same night. The 5A schools, Riverside and JL Mann, both have tremendous swim programs and to defeat two opponents at this level of competition is a new height for Boys Swimming, who captured St. Joseph’s first 3A state title last year.

Girls Swimming also had an excellent night, finishing only 20 points back from JL Mann’s girls team. The Riverside girls are also powerhouse team in 5A. Coach Becky Van Evera, who waited up late into the night for the official results to be released, was thrilled with the victories. “This is the first time in the six years I have been coaching that we beat two 5(A) teams! Very proud of all these swimmers!”
