Boys Soccer Upper State Champions

Last night, the SJCS boys soccer team battled Gray Collegiate Academy, through 80 minutes of regulation time and 30 minutes of overtime, to a 0-0 score before the match went to penalty kicks to decide the winner. Each team had to select five players to take one penalty kick each, with the teams alternating the kicks being taken. Both teams scored on their first three kicks. Knights goalkeeper Connor Stein made a terrific save on Gray Collegiate’s fourth kick and we followed with another successful goal to make the score 4-3 going into the fifth round of kicks. Connor made another fantastic save to send the Knights into the State Championship match. That match will be played on Friday at 4:00 at Irmo HS against Academic Magnet.
