Girls Golf Dominates Region 1-AA Title

carlyLed by senior Carly Lyvers and the Fantastic Four Freshmen, the St. Joseph’s girls golf team stormed to the Region 1-AA tournament title Monday at Greer Country Club.

The Knights (13-1) had a 336 total, 47 shots better than second-place Christ Church. Landrum was third at 407 and Greer Middle College was fourth at 453.

Lyvers earned Player of the Year honors in Region 1-AA with a 76. Freshman Caleigh Noonan fired an 80 while fellow ninth-grader Kaitlyn Dumit had an 88. Freshman Emma Curran, back from a knee injury after being out a month, shot a 92 while ninth-grader Reagan Lillibridge had 93.

Joining Lyvers on the All-Region team were Noonan, Dumit and Curran. Also, Head Coach Mark Matlock was named as the Girls Golf Region Coach of the Year.

Next up for the team is the Upper State Qualifying tournament at Greenwood Country Club Oct. 16. The state tournament will be held Oct. 23-24 at River Falls Golf Club in Duncan.
