Boys and Girls Soccer Take 2nd in State Championships

_RSS2702In two amazing matches, both our girls and boys varsity soccer teams were defeated by Academic Magnet in the state championship games Friday in Columbia, placing St. Joseph’s in 2nd in the entire state our first year in Class 2A.

The Lady Knights played at 2:00 PM in their first ever championship game, showing tremendous fight all the way to the finish to close the game with a score of 2-6. Congratulations to Coach Rick Morris and the entire team for a fantastic season!

The boys soccer played at 4:00 PM, also facing down a tough opponent in the Academic Magnet team. Tied at the half, the boys finished with a final score of 2-3. After claiming five consecutive state championships in Class A, we’re so proud of our boys for taking it all the way in our first year in 2A! Congratulations to Coach Frank Kucinic, who celebrated his 200th SJCS win this year, and the whole team for a great season!

_RSS3315Also, the South Carolina High School Soccer Coaches Association has selected Diego Franco ’17 to participate in the North/South All-Star Soccer Classic. The match will feature the top high school senior boys soccer players from the northern part of the state against the top players from the southern part of the state. The match will take place on June 24 at the District Three Stadium in Rock Hill.
