Three SJCS Students Named to SCBDA 2017 Region Honor Band

The SJCS Fine Arts Program would like to congratulate 8th grade band students Kimsey Fiddie -trumpet, Emma Curran and Samuel Dobson-alto saxophones, for being being selected for the SCBDA 2017 Region Honor Band. The students auditioned in mid January with over 2000 students from 3 counties in the upstate. Kimsey Fiddie placed 6th out over 120 trumpet players  and Emma and Sam placed 7th and 9th respectively out of over 110 saxophones.

St. Joseph’s Catholic School Band Director, Marjorie Malphrus, speaks highly of the students,

“These three students, along with others who auditioned, have represented our school extremely well!” Malphrus said. “They have always possessed a great attitude and aptitude for band and their hard work pays off with opportunities like the Region Band. I am very proud of them”.

The Region Band Clinic is held on Feb 24-25,2017 on the campus of Furman University and will conclude with a free public performance beginning at 4:00pm in the McAlister Auditorium.
